The Vigon Method

Created in Los Angeles, the Vigon Method is a training program that enables the body to work as an integrated unit.

The Vigon Method was borne out of the need for a fitness program that re-trains crucial stabilising muscles that are largely under-used and forgotten due to the modern lifestyle - in particular operating in an office environment.

The Vigon Method identifies postural and movement imbalances and implements flexibility and strengthening program tailored to the individual's needs in order to rectify them.

Comprehensive postural screening is at the heart of the Vigon Method.  By assessing the way people walk, and move the Vigon Method pinpoints tight and overactive muscles, as well as weak underused ones.

This allows for personalised movement and postural training to return natural, normal flexibility to the tight muscles and strengthen the weak underused ones to alleviate stress and pain.

Regardless of fitness levels, most people have postural dysfunctions, whether it is from inactivity or sitting at a computer all day at work. These dysfunctions lead to muscle imbalances. The muscles that support the body "turn off" and become weak. This forces the stronger movement muscles of the body to perform two jobs; to provide movement and support the body. This is where pain and injury occur.

In most cases, core stabilising muscles of the abdomen are ignored and are too weak to protect the spine. The top priority of the Vigon Method is to build strength and endurance in the deep stabilising muscles of the core. This helps to protect the spine and prevent stress and pain.

Incorporating elements of yoga, pilates, martial arts, traditional strength training and many other disciplines, the Vigon Method teaches the body how to move efficiently to reduce the risk of injury and improve wellbeing and performance.
